I can best describe my first trip to a Quaker meeting as "brimming with a wholesome emptiness". There were very welcoming friendly people who made very little mention of religion and the majority of the time was spent in a room enjoying silence.

As a hard-line atheist I am not one to dramatise my experiences, but this was the closest anything resembling a religious service had come to bringing about any feeling of spiritual experience and it occurred without any superstition being pushed upon me at all. I plan to attend many more services and enjoy exploring the Quaker experience.
